FLASHBACK to 1975 Dreamweaver

All I can say is this song came out when I was 7 years old and nothing sends me back into my childhood quite like this song. It's always been my #1 favorite song, something about the sexiness of it perhaps? OK, not the sexiness of Gary Wright (sorry Gary) the dreamy beat? It really screams "Couple's Skate" right? The 1970's was the BEST musical era, in my opinion.

When I was a little girl I used to dream about this song being played when I was on a date with my boyfriend. Funny, at 7 my loftiest goal was to have a BOYFRIEND! For the record, this song was long gone from the radio by the time I was old enough to date:(

New Packaging Sneak Peek

If I've said it 100 times, I've said it 1,000 times... there are some really, super talented people on Etsy. I'm currently reworking some cute and clever packaging ideas for my stationery and stumbled across Brown Pigeon. This girl hand carves rubber stamps and can custom make one using your very own logo. Can you imagine how tedious it must have been to carve out the dingbat I use to dot my "i"? If you can dream it up, she can carve it. Perhaps this should be hew new slogan? She even takes special care in how she packages her little treasures, take a look at that brown box with fuchsia ribbon. I really appreciate that little attention to detail.

Stay tuned to see how my new packaging turns out.

Oh My is HERE!

I'm so excited to announce the launch of a new creative blog called Oh My Handmade Goodness, founded by (my online mentor and friend) Sara Tams of Sarah and Abraham.

Yours truly will be posting monthly about running a home based business, so stop by and see what we're all about. The new blog promises to be a community for independent children’s retailers and the hip parents who support them. The contributors are a group of independent artisans, designers, and industry experts. Each day we’ll share with you a little bit of what we love and what we know.

I was flattered when Sara asked me to be a part of her newest creative venture and super impressed with the company I'll be keeping with the other monthly guest bloggers. We all have a bunch of great info to share with you about starting and running an indie business. Our regular features include small business tips, Q&A, tutorials, marketing & PR, web design and interviews with artisans, designers, shop owners, and industry insiders. We’re a top resource for artisans, designers, and anyone thinking about starting an online business.

2010 Color Of The Year TURQUOISE

(click on picture for full effect)

Each December, Pantone (the birthplace of all COLOR) announces their color pick for the upcoming year. I couldn't be more happy to see TURQUOISE get even hotter this year, than it already was! It's the new neutral and goes with everything. My favorite place is the beach with it's clear blue oceans, warm sunny skies, breezes, oh the imagery... and oh what fun we will have with TURQUOISE this year.

Inspiration Board

(click on picture for full effect)

Homework at my age? Absolutely and having a blast! I told you all here about Holly Becker's blog class I'm taking, what a deep experience it is. Our homework this week was to come up with some type of inspirational board, or the way in which we want our blog to look and feel. It was a challenge because we had to step away from the computer (nothing digital allowed) and the items had to be able to fit into a file or folder. Well, what can I say? I'm drawn to all things colorful, even if my husband said it looks like "something an 8 year old would put together." What does he know?

Having color all around me puts me in a great mood. Last week I bought some flowers for this product shoot and having those little bouquets around all week brightened my mood. Especially since we've been having nothing but dark, rainy days here in Atlanta. For me, neutrals are fine in a spa, but not in my immediate life! Give me COLOR and lots of it.

iCANDY - 66th edition

I'm giggling as I bring you this week's iCANDY, tongue-in-cheek! Most of you know my {day} job is in the medical sales profession, meaning I'm out schlepping things that make you say "ouch" when I'm not making InkSpot Workshop paper goodies. This week the "job" has really been getting in the way of all things creative around here:)

Just for kicks and giggles, I did a search on Etsy for medical devices and here's what I found. Trust me... there were some very strange things for sale and I'm still not sure what people would do with neon filled syringe hair barrettes? Perhaps I should suggest this to my company's marketing department? For sure I am going to suggest we start making OR soap with syringes in them, so the surgeon's can have squirt gun fights after they scrub up! That soap is a RIOT.

1. Acrylic Syringe Necklace - Cupcakes and Mace, New Zealand $16.00
2. Miniature Hospital Room - A 4 Table, AZ $45.00
3. Catnip Syringe Toy - Oh Boy Cat Toy, $12.00
4. Prep Wash Soap w/Syringe - Amanda Louise, OH $6.00
5. Brass Charm Earrings - Brash Design, MI $5.50
6. Syringe Tie - Crescent Wench, IN $35.00

Calling All Shutter Bugs!

There's a reason Creature Comforts is my favorite blog of all time. It's where I go regularly for design inspiration, freebies, get introduced to extremely talented artists like Kellie Medivitz and so much more.

While getting my daily read on, I got a triple whammy! I got introduced to the new Fuji Instax Mini Instant Camera, (Polaroid's little brother) a jam packed online wannabe photographer's store called Photojojo, which has some of the most unique camera and photo accessories I've ever seen, like this bowling bag style camera bag. All of this coolness, plus a giveaway too!

Creature Comforts and Photojojo are giving away your choice of 2 prizes. Click here for the full details and to enter. Personally, I want nothing more than to get my hands on that little camera. How precious are those little credit card sized instant pictures? I think it would be fun to let my 4 year old try it out, just to see life from his perspective, plus have the little pictures as keepsake momentos. Oh the many uses I would find for that new camera.

Good Luck!

Can you stand it?

Look what I just received in my inbox? How stinkin' cute are these?? I'm so thrilled I can hardly wait until they arrive in my mailbox. The super sweet and talented Meagan of Brown Pigeon, has the talented fingers that hand carved these wooden stamps for my new InkSpot Workshop packaging. Guess I'd better get some ink pads asap!

SNEAK PEEK - Busy Bee

I recently had the privilege to work on these super special Welcome Home invitations. My lovely customer Anne, had just adopted a baby girl from China and they wanted to properly welcome her home. She asked for a modern, bright, bumble bee theme and I was happy to put my imagination to work. How do you like the finished product?

I fell in love with the bright colors and fun polka dot font and decided I couldn't wait until Spring and will be bringing this collection to you shortly, so consider this your little sneak peek!!

The collection will include a couple of baby shower invitation designs and even a set of personalized stationery for those keeping up with the BUZZ!

STAY TUNED!
