Several years ago my good friend gave me a Black Orchid, Timothy Jay candle as a gift. Ever since I first lit it and smelled the essences of gardenia, tuberose and wild orange, I was a goner! In fact it's the ONLY candle you will find in my house! This is the most unique smelling candle you will ever own, scout's honor. I keep one lit in the guest while entertaining and it always becomes the topic of discussion. Even when it's not lit the entire house fills with Black Orchid.
While visiting Belgium a few years ago, I discovered the {almost heavenly} shop of Santa Maria Novella. Heavenly is a word you may use to describe this line literally because their bath, body and home fragrances were originally was made by monks in Florence, Italy and in today's world they still make all of their recipes exactly the same as they did hundreds of years ago. This is a very rich line made with pure extracts, flowers, oils and plants. Back then you could not get the products in the states, so I loaded up. Now they are available online and in person from Lafco New York. The bath oils are decadent and worth every penny!!
If you haven't yet discovered the unique, layering fragrances from British perfumer Jo Malone, then you're really missing out. There is only one perfume I wear and it's Jo Malone's French Lime Blossom. I have tried layering it with some of their other scents, but I'm sort of a purist and just like French Lime Blossom all by itself. It was inspired by a "stroll along the Champs Élysées, French Lime Blossom is a romantic, full-bodied floral. The scent of sweet lime blossoms with a twist of bergamot and tarragon is evocative of the first day of spring" according to Jo herself.
